Product overview

  • Adds RJ45 multi-gig Ethernet to compatible USB-C systems.
  • Designed for NAS access, workstation backup, and homelab networking.
  • Best results require the full path: host, network, cable, driver, and storage.

Uses RTL8159-based hardware in a compact aluminum body. Review compatibility before targeting 10GbE-class throughput.

Compatibility

USB-C shape alone does not confirm USB link mode. Review the guide before buying for 10GbE-class targets.

Real-world speed notes

Real throughput depends on USB link mode, driver, CPU, switch/NAS, cable, file size, and storage speed.

Shipping, returns, and warranty

US standard shipping is free; other supported destinations are USD $5. Most deliveries are estimated at 6–12 business days after dispatch. Remote areas are not served.

Performance requirements

What the full-speed path requires.

These are setup requirements, not SumoLink benchmark results. Measured results will be published only with the complete test environment.

20GbpsHost path for 10GbE targets

Use USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 when targeting 10GbE-class transfers.

10G/5GRJ45 multi-gig negotiation

The network side still needs suitable cabling, switch or NAS, and storage performance.

AluminumHeat-spreading body

Warmth is expected during sustained multi-gig traffic. Keep airflow available.

FAQ

Product questions

What host port should I use for 10GbE-class transfer targets?

Use USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 20Gbps. A 10Gbps USB host can still be useful, but the USB link itself becomes the bottleneck.

Does Thunderbolt or USB4 guarantee full speed?

No. Confirm the USB peripheral mode exposed to the adapter. Port branding alone does not establish the active USB link mode.

Can I use it with NAS and homelab gear?

Yes, when the host, cable, switch or NAS, driver, CPU, and storage path support the target link speed. Verify the negotiated Ethernet speed before judging file-copy performance.

Which Ethernet speeds are supported?

The adapter supports 10G, 5G, 2.5G, 1G, and 100M RJ45 auto-negotiation. Connected network equipment and cable determine the negotiated link.

What Ethernet cable should I use?

Use Cat6A or better when planning a 10GbE link. Cable length, condition, and the connected ports still affect negotiation and stability.

Do I need a driver?

Driver needs depend on OS version and environment. Start from official or verified sources, then confirm device detection, driver version, USB link mode, and Ethernet speed.

Is it normal for the aluminum enclosure to feel warm?

Some warmth is expected during sustained multi-gig traffic. Keep the enclosure uncovered and provide airflow. Contact support for instability, damage, odor, or abnormal heat.

How long does shipping take?

Orders normally process in 1–3 business days. Delivery is typically 7–10 business days after dispatch, but carrier and customs delays can occur.

Can I return it if it does not fit my setup?

Eligible returns may be requested within 14 days after delivery. Contact SumoLink first and keep the adapter, cable, packaging, and order details together.

What warranty does SumoLink provide?

SumoLink provides a 12-month limited warranty for eligible manufacturing defects. Throughput limitations caused by an incompatible host or network path are not hardware defects.

What is the relationship between SumoLink and WisdPi?

WisdPi manufactures the WP-UT9 hardware. SumoLink distributes this product and provides storefront sales and customer support for orders placed here.
